GRAMMY®-nominee and Golden Globe®-winner Engelbert Humperdinck will make his Capitol Theatre debut for two nights on Saturday, January 23 at 8 pm and Sunday, January 24 at 5 pm. Although this is Engelbert’s first time at the Capitol Theatre, last year marked his 25th performance at Ruth Eckerd Hall.
From romantic ballads (the core of his repertoire) to the platinum-selling theme song Lesbian Seagull from the Beavis and Butthead movie, Engelbert succeeds in appealing to multiple generations of fans. With numerous GRAMMY® nominations and a Golden Globe® for “Entertainer of the Year” (1988), Engelbert has sold more than 150 million albums and has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This iconic performer will perform his six-decades of hit songs including Release Me, There Goes My Everything, The Last Waltz, After the Lovin’ and Winter World of Love, among many others.
Engelbert recently released his first duets album, Engelbert Calling. Featuring brand tracks with a who’s who of the music world, including Sir Elton John, Willie Nelson, Shelby Lynne, Charles Azavour, Johnny Mathis, Cliff Richard, Neil Sedaka, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Lulu, Beverly Knight and Gene Simmons, to name a few.
Sir Elton said his new recording pal was “one of the sweetest and nicest people I have worked with.” He went on, “We had a great time singing together. He is 76 years old and still sounding as good as ever.”
“I am truly thrilled to be working with some of the greats of show business on this new CD,” Engelbert recently said.
Engelbert Calling was produced in London and Los Angeles by GRAMMY® award-winning producer Martin Terefe (Train, Jason Mraz, James Morrison).
The CD was released in the U.K. on March 17 and immediately entered the HMV Albums chart at #3 and was named Album Of The Week at BBC Radio 2.
